Democrats Block Law Protecting Minors
Democrats' Orwellian Behavior Exposed
California Democrats last week blocked a bill to make purchasing sex from 16-17-year-olds a felony, according to The Globe.
Assembly Vote Results:
- Democrats hijacked the bill, removing the age cap provision and taking Assemblywoman Maggie Krell's name off.
- The bill was replaced with empty intent language.
Assemblywoman Maggie Krell (D-Sacramento) and Senator Shannon Grove (R-Bakersfield) authored AB 379 to make solicitation of sex from anyone under 18 a felony.
"The California Democratic Party now has ads on Facebook claiming Republicans 'voted against stronger laws protecting 16 and 17 year olds...' "
According to Ashley Zavala, this is misleading, as the bill was blocked by Democrats.
Democrats' Orwellian Behavior:
Democrats are running taxpayer-funded political ads falsely blaming Republicans for their own vote.
Steve Hilton's gubernatorial campaign issued a press statement, calling out the ads and demanding Governor Gavin Newsom denounce them.
"'Intent means nothing. Action is everything. Your party took action to protect predators, not children.'
Steve Hilton wrote:
- He called on Newsom to immediately denounce the ads and condemn his party's actions.
- He warned that if Newsom doesn't take action, the ads will become indelibly attached to his campaign for president in 2028.
Newsom has yet to respond to Hilton's letter or comment on the ads.
