HR 1327: Syria Terrorism Threat Assessment Act

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Syria Terrorism4

TION.11(a) TERRORISM THREAT ASSESSMENT .—12
(1) IN GENERAL .—The Secretary of Homeland13
Security, in coordination with the heads of other rel-14
evant Federal departments or agencies, shall con-15
duct a threat assessment of terrorist threats to the16
United States posed by individuals in Syria with an17
affiliation with a foreign terrorist organization or a18
specially designated global terrorist organization.19

Congressional Notification
(b) CONGRESSIONAL NOTIFICATION .—Not later than18
60 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the19
Secretary shall—20
(1) submit to the appropriate congressional21
committees the threat assessment required under22
subsection (a); and23
(2) provide a briefing to the appropriate con-24
gressional committees on such assessment. -
Definitions
(c) DEFINITIONS .—In this Act:1
(1) APPROPRIATE CONGRESSIONAL COMMIT -2
TEES .—The term ‘‘appropriate congressional com-3
mittees’’ means—4
(A) the Committee on Homeland Security5
of the House of Representatives; and6
(B) the Committee on Homeland Security7
and Governmental Affairs of the Senate.8
