Recognizing the 127th Anniversary of Philippine Independence
June 12, 2025, marks an important milestone in history as it commemorates the 127th anniversary of the independence of the Philippines.
Resolution Introduced by Congress
A resolution was submitted to the House of Representatives, which was referred to the Committee on Foreign Affairs. The resolution, H.R.E.S. 505 IH, aims to recognize the historic significance of this anniversary and reaffirm the bonds of friendship between the United States and the Philippines.
- Recognizes the historic significance of the 127th anniversary of the sovereign and independent country of the Philippines on June 12, 1898;
- Raffirms the bonds of friendship and cooperation which have existed between the United States and the Philippines and commits to strengthening those bonds;
- Raffirms its support for the Philippines to defend its internal security from terrorism;
- Raffirms its enduring support for the Philippines;
- Recognizes the courage and bravery of the Filipino and Filipino American servicemen and servicewomen who have fought alongside and in the United States Armed Forces;
- Supports the recognition of ‘Philippines Independence Day’
“Congress commends the people of the Philippines for enduring through struggle and hardship,” said the resolution. “Congress supports increased public awareness of the events surrounding the Philippine Declaration of Independence, and the vibrant and beautiful culture of the Philippines.”
Moreover, Congress reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the bonds of friendship between the United States and the Philippines.
