OUNG (for himself, Mrs. SHAHEEN , and Mr. CRAMER ) introduced the
following bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on
Health, Education, Labor, and Welfare.
This Act will facilitate a robust system of mental health support within schools,
addressing the critical need for accessible and effective services for students.
The Mental Health Excellence in Schools Act will ensure adequate resources are
allocated to support school psychologists, counselors, and support staff.
Specifically, the program will focus on expanding the pool of qualified professionals who
can provide crucial mental health assessments, interventions, and referrals.
It also includes provisions for training programs and professional development to
enhance the skills and knowledge of school-based mental health providers.
