Introduction

The House of Representatives recently passed a resolution expressing support for the designation of May 2025 as “Moving Month”.

The bill, H.R. 428 IH, was referred to the Committee on Energy and Commerce and refers to more than 15 million households moving annually for career relocation, educational pursuits, and other personal reasons.

“the purpose of ‘‘Moving Month’’ is to—

1. raise public awareness about the invaluable contributions of moving and storage companies who represent an irreplaceable supply chain created through generations of movers’ investment in buildings, people, and equipment;
2. promote respect and understanding of the essential work that moving and storage companies do to carefully and safely transport our essential household goods from one home to another.

Passage of the Resolution

The resolution was passed by the House of Representatives, expressing thanks to the moving and storage industry of the United States and promoting the professional services of moving and storage companies by encouraging the public to recognize “Moving Month”.
